Hiroshima Amplifiers was formed in the middle of 2005 when the bands Unfaithful and Distortion Inc decided to make the world a favour and make it a better place. Members were exchanged but while Unfaithful remained Distortion Inc was dispatched to the grave. In its place Hiroshima Amplifiers was born. The band very shortly thereafter released its first demo - Under Black Banners - which amongst others holds the brutal My Desire and the beautiful Down By Misery. Under Black Banners was very locally appreciated but due to internal relationships the demo was poorly promoted. In the first demo's wake another followed only two months after; Demolition. Demolition shows a band in progress, it's in many aspects unlike the previous, with the much appreciated cover of Angelfuck by Misfits, the instrumental ballad Project Hate and the intense and lyrical masterpiece Bad mf. In 2006 six songs were recorded, of which three are located on the demo One Thousand Cries. With One Thousand Cries the band finally gained the acknowledgement it deserved, with three solid hits in a row: One Thousand Cries, What's This Life For, and the newly polished Chained To Lies, a song originally created by Distortion Inc in the year 2000, now perfect in its development. But the irony of fate took a great turn and in late 2006 the problems started becoming to massive to be ignored: the drummer moved to Australia, the bass player moved to Stockholm, the lead guitarist quit and the singer refused to sing. What was left? Simon Magnesjö, all alone on the battlefield and as a conclusion forced to reach a solution. Despite this the band actually manages - after incredible difficulties and tremendous logistic efforts - to finish the musical masterpiece Fake, a song that took about a year to complete and that was nominated for best sound production and best musical composition in the Rich Media Awards 2007. Hiroshima Amplifiers is at the moment consisting of five members: Marcus Kärregård at vocals, Pontus Wahlgren at drums, Simon Magnesjö and Rob Ingemansson on guitars and Zeb "The Bass Slayer" Ramberg on bass. Since Zeb lives and works in Stockholm - about 500 kilometers from the others - he operates on his masterpieces behind the scenes. Until the king returns, he is replaced by the faceted and highly brilliant Carl Thomas for future shows on stage. Last update July, 2008. |
